The APEC Climate Center (APCC) held the 2020 Climate Prediction Workshop (CPW 2020) on the topic: “The Now & Future of Climate Prediction Technology Development” at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae, Busan on July 9th, 2020.

APCC's CPW 2020 was held to provide a platform to enable domestic climate prediction experts to share their latest research achievements and experiences regarding key issues in the field of climate prediction. During the workshop, participants had the chance to participate in in-depth discussions on the direction of climate prediction technology development. This workshop aims to contribute to producing and providing climate prediction information with low uncertainty and high reliability. Representatives from various government and climate prediction related institutes such as the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA), National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS), Universities, and more, attended the CPW 2020.

APCC hopes that this workshop will promote the production of optimal climate forecast information. Effective monitoring of abnormal climate events, such as heat waves and typhoons, can help reduce damages to the national economy, lives, and property.
