APCC Co-hosted the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Climate Change Forum 2020 with BROM, Busan Metropolitan City, and BDI.

The APEC Climate Center (APCC), Busan Regional Office of Meteorology (BROM), Busan Metropolitan City, and Busan Development Institute (BDI) co-hosted the Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam (BUG) Climate Change Forum 2020 on November 11, 2020 at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae, Busan.

 

This forum was attended by participants from the local government, public institutes, academia, and businesses in the BUG region who are using climate information and interested in climate change. The event’s theme was, ‘BUG, Global Extreme Climate, and Busan Metropolitan City’s Response Plan’.

 

Director Yeong-Hwa Byun from the Innovative Meteorological Research Department at the National Institute of Meteorological Science, gave a key-note presentation entitled “Status and Prospects of Global Climate Change”.

 

There were also topic presentations such as “Climate Change Status in the BUG Region”, “Status and Cause of Global Extreme Climate”, and “The Road Map of Climate Change Response and Greenhouse Gas Reduction”. Lastly, the panel discussion was held under the subject “The Current State of Climate Change and our Future Direction”.

 

Through this forum, participating organizations related to climate prediction and climate change in the BUG region realized the need to promote effective GHG reduction policies along with improving the capabilities of climate prediction and information utilization to reduce human and material damage caused by climate change in the future.
