The APEC Climate Center (APCC) held the 2022 Climate Prediction Workshop (CPW2022) at the Busan Exhibition & Convention Center (BEXCO) in Haeundae, Busan between June 30th and July 1st, 2022. And the topic of CPW 2022 was ‘Development of the Research to Operation (R2O) System and the Direction of Technology Development Tailored to the Demands of Climate Prediction’.
The participants of CPW2022, which was held for the third time this year following 2020 and 2021, introduced and shared plans and examples for the development of a practical system of the transition from Research & Development (R&D) of climate prediction technology to the Korea Meteorological Administration (KMA)'s long-term forecasting.
CPW2022 was held to discuss and derive the development direction of the consensus-type practical system among R&D, Testbed and Operation, considering the feedback on effective climate prediction technology and demand.
Representatives from various government and climate prediction related institutes such as KMA, National Institute of Meteorological Sciences (NIMS), Universities, and others attended the meeting
