Executive Summary
The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Climate Center (APCC) has been making continuous efforts to enhance the value of climate information utilization in the Asia-Pacific region. APCC develops various climate information services and provides them stably through an online platform, while constantly improving and conducting user support projects to expand the usability and applicability of climate prediction data.
To ensure systematic and stable operation of APCC climate information services, an operational and reporting framework based on annual plans has been established, with strengthened management through continuous service monitoring. Additionally, in response to the rapidly changing information and communication technology (ICT) environment, APCC has been continually revising and improving its services, while consistently performing service security enhancement tasks to address various security vulnerabilities.
APCC is working to provide users with a consistent service environment by gradually integrating individual climate information services into a climate information service platform. Through this effort, APCC climate information services that provide climate data, processing, prediction, and verification information are being expanded into a single integrated platform service.
As part of these efforts, APCC has carried out the sub-project "Operation and Improvement of Asia-Pacific Climate Information Services" under the sixth phase of the Asia-Pacific Climate Information Service and Research Development Project. This project was conducted with the goal of “Building a Next-Generation Climate Information Service System to Enhance Climate Information Utilization and User Support,” was conducted from 2022 to 2024, achieving the following key outcomes:
In 2022, online tutorial services were developed to enhance user support, and an itegrated authentication system was established to improve user convenience in authentication. It also carried out stable operation and improvement of APCC climate information services.
In 2023, APCC constructed a dynamic climate information display homepage to lead climate information services. This homepage has a foundation that can be integrated with the platform and also built a prototype of mashup services.
In the final year of 2024, APCC completed the construction of an Open API package based on the integrated climate information service platform and the development of mashup services. Through this, APCC achieved the goal of building a dynamic climate information service for strengthening climate information utilization and user support.
Based on these accomplishments, APCC has been promoting the exchange and dissemination of climate prediction technologies and strengthening user support through domestic workshops aimed at increasing domestic contributions. Through these initiatives, APCC is contributing to further enhancing the value of climate information utilization in the Asia-Pacific region and improving the ability to respond to climate change.
