한국해양과학기술원 권민호박사가 오는 6월 27일 APEC 기후센터(APCC)를 방문한다. 권민호 박사는 「Interannual variability and its seasonal prediction usingteleconnection of Northeast Asian summer precipitation」라는 주제로 오후 3시부터 APCC 2층에 위치한 국제회의실에서 세미나를 주재한다.
세미나 일정 등 상세 정보는 아래와 같다.
Seasonal prediction skills of the intensity of the Northeast Asian summer monsoon are relatively low using state-of-the-art general circulation models. This study introduces a two-peakedinstraseasonal structure and its dynamical mechanisms of the summtime precipitation in Northeast Asian region. It is also introduced that seasonal-mean precipitation in Northeast Asian region are strongly correlated to western North Pacific (WNP) subtropical High variability in summertime. The relationship between Northeast Asian and WNP summer monsoons was remarkably increased before and after the mid-1990s and keeps with a high correlation coefficient over the entire period.
Many general circulation models cannot properly the Northeast Asian summer precipitation but can well capture and predict interannual variability of the western North Pacific subtropical High, which dominates climate anomalies in the western North Pacific-East Asian region. Besides, interannualvariability of the Northeast Asian summer monsoon is highly correlated to the western North Pacific subtropical High variability. Based on this relationship, we suggest a seasonal prediction model using NCEP CFS (National Centers for Environmental Prediction Climate Forecast System) and canonical correlation analysis for Northeast Asian summer precipitation anomalies in this study. This methodology provides with considerable benefit of seasonal prediction skills for Northeast Asian summer rainfall anomalies.
