The APEC Climate Center (APCC) successfully completed the 2026 Young Scientist Support Program (YSSP) long-term training program for three key working-level staff members from the Peruvian National Meteorological and Hydrological Service (SENAMHI). This 60-day program took place from Wednesday, July 1, to Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the APCC building in Haeundae, Busan.

The Young Scientist Support Program (YSSP) is a capacity-building initiative designed for early-career researchers from developing economic members with limited climate research capabilities. The program helps these researchers independently respond to climate change in their home countries by providing practical joint research opportunities, knowledge transfer, and dedicated mentoring.

This specific training was organized as a core capacity-building component of the project titled "Improving national climate information services for enhancing climate resilience of rural communities in Peru" (project period: December 2025 - October 2027). This overarching project is currently being implemented as a pilot project by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
