A delegation from the APEC Climate Center (APCC), including APCC Executive Director Do-Shick Shin and Dr. Jong Ahn Chun, Research Fellow, attended the 7th Pacific Meteorological Council (PMC), held in Vanuatu, one of the Pacific Island nations, from September 17 to September 19, 2024.

During this visit, the APCC delegation conducted the climate cooperation meetings with high-ranking ministers from the South Pacific Regional Environment Program (SPREP) and Pacific Island Countries, focusing on climate and climate change. Additionally, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, they hosted a PMC side event. At the side event, they presented the Pacific Island Countries with the successful development case of the Van-KIRAP tailOred System of Climate Services for AgRiculture (OSCAR) for Vanuatu’s agricultural sector and achievements in building a sustainable operation and maintenance system of OSCAR. They also strengthened their climate cooperation network with local governments.
