The APEC Climate Center (APCC) participated in the 29th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 15 to 23, 2024. The delegation highlighted the achievements of the Van-KIRAP project, particularly the OSCAR system, which supports climate risk management and agricultural productivity through innovative climate information services. Successfully transferred to the Vanuatu government in 2023, OSCAR has become a model for sustainable climate adaptation in the Pacific. A side event showcased its successes and explored expansion strategies to other regions.

APCC engaged with international stakeholders, including SPREP, VMGD, and WMO, to discuss the Van-KIRAP-II project and the broader scalability of climate information systems. This collaboration reinforced APCC’s leadership in climate resilience and laid the groundwork for extending tailored climate services globally. Future efforts will focus on developing region-specific adaptation projects to enhance resilience against climate change.
