APCC is currently paricipating as a technical partner in the programme “Enhancing Climate Information and Knowledge Services for resilience in 5 island countries of the Pacific Ocean(hereafter UNEP CIS-Pac5)”, initiated by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). Dr. Jinho Yoo (Principal Investigator), Dr. Jeongmin Han (Research Fellow) and Ms. Hyejin Lee (Project Manager) as members of APCC’s UNEP CIS-Pac5 team visits Palau and Tuvalu between 16, February and 11, March 2024. The 5 Small Island Developing States (SIDS) in the Pacific are the Cook Islands, Niue, Palau, the Republic of the Marshall Islands (RMI) and Tuvalu.
The members of APCC’s UNEP CIS-Pac5 team will share the overall project progress with the pacific island countries and discuss the current project issues during their visit. In addtion, they will collect local information necessary for the production and utilization of climate information. they will also attend the climate information workshop held under the auspices of the partner institutes.
APCC is carrying out this project in order to increase the climate prediction and climate information utilization capabilities of the meteorological offices of the five Pacific island countries and enhance the resilience of these regions against climate change.
