APCC, UNEP, SPREP and WMO Co-hosted the 3rd Joint Regional Training Workshop on Enhancing Climate Information Services for Resilience in 5 Island Countries of the Pacific Ocean

CURRENT FORECAST

ENSO Outlook for December 2024 ~ May 2025
The APCC ENSO Alert suggests “La Niña Watch”. Niño3.4 index is expected to be -0.8℃ for January 2025 and gradually increase to -0.3℃ for May 2025. La Niña conditions are most probable (62%) for December 2024 — February 2025, with a shift to ENSO-neutral conditions expected to be more probable (57%) from February — April 2025 and March — May 2025.

MME Temperature & Precipitation Seasonal Outlook for December 2024 ~ May 2025
Strongly enhanced probability for above normal temperatures is predicted for most of the globe except for the central and eastern tropical Pacific for December 2024 — May 2025. For the same period, strongly enhanced probability for below normal precipitation is predicted for the western equatorial Pacific.

Climate Information Service
APCC produces high-cost climate data and information by operating a real-time and highly-validated climate prediction system based on a multi-climate model ensemble (MME) technique. APCC also carries out research in order to enhance capacity in the monitoring and prediction of weather and climate in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
