함수련 박사가 지난 9월 1일 APEC 기후센터 (APEC Climate Center, APCC) 기후분석팀에 입사했다. 함수련 박사는 연세대학교 대기과학과에서 석사를 마치고 2013년 동대학교에서 2013년 2월 “일반 순환 모델에서 대기-해양 결합과 구름/강수 과정이 열대 기후에 미치는 영향(The impacts of air-sea coupling and cloud/precipitation processes on tropical climate in a general circulation model)” 연구로 박사 학위를 취득하였다.
함수련 박사는, 2013년부터 2015년까지 일본 동경대학교(The University of Tokyo) 대기-해양 연구원(Atmospheric and Ocean Research Institute)에서 연구원 (Project Researcher)으로 근무했다. 그리고 함수련 박사는 여기에서 “미래기후 예측을 위한 지역 결합모델을 활용한 상세지역기후전망(regional climate downscaling using the regional coupled model for future climate projection)”에 대해 관심을 가지고 연구하였다.
함수련 박사는 이러한 경험을 바탕으로 APCC에서 동아시아 기후모의를 위한 기후모델의 개선 및 검증 (improvement and evaluation of the climate model system to simulated East Asia climate)에 대해 연구할 예정이다.
