APEC 기후센터(APCC)가 2012년도 연구 주요 활동 및 성과 내용을 담은 기술보고서를 발간했다.

2005년도 APCC가 아태지역 기후정보의 허브로 설립된 이래, 지역의 발전을 위해 이상기후를 예측, 분석하고 활용하는 노력을 해 왔다. 특히 전 세계적 국제 과학 협력을 통해 계절 예측을 위한 대규모 다중모델앙상블 기법(Multi-Model Ensemble, MME)을 개발, 정착시켰다.

APCC는 2012년도에 다양한 분야(농업, 수자원 등)를 아우르는 학제적 연구를 통해 기후 정보의 높은 활용성을 타진하였으며 단기 기후 예측의 질과 정확도 및 온라인 기후 정보 시스템을 향상시키기 위해 지속적으로 연구하였다. 이번에 발간된 기술보고서를 통해 APCC의 이러한 제반의 연구 활동 및 성과를 확인 할 수 있다.

2013년도, APEC 기후센터는 기후정보의 더 나은 활용을 통해 사회경제적 질을 향상하고 안녕과 행복을 꽤하겠다(enhancing socioeconomic well-being through better utilization of climate information)는 목표 아래, 지속적으로 기후정보의 활용성을 염두에 두어 기후정보의 질과 정확도를 개선해 나갈 것이다. APCC는 센터의 연구 활동과 성과들이 다양한 과학 분야 및 활용 분야에 활용될 것으로 기대하고 있다.
