APCC was granted membership to the Climate Technology Centre & Network (CTCN) on September 6th, 2017 to provide high quality and diverse expertise in the transfer of climate technologies for developing countries.
The CTCN is the operational arm of the UNFCCC Technology Mechanism, hosted by the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO). The Centre promotes the accelerated transfer of environmentally sound technologies for low carbon and climate resilient development at the request of developing countries. It provides technology solutions, capacity building and advice on policy, legal and regulatory frameworks tailored to the needs of individual countries.
Network Members form a broad community of climate technology stakeholders, including academic, finance, non-government, private sector, public sector, and research entities, as well as over 150 National Designated Entities (CTCN national focal points selected by their countries). Being a CTCN member, APCC can bid to provide technical assistance (TA) funded by CTCN in response to requests from developing countries. APCC plans to utilize the CTCN network in order to expand current work in coping with climate change in developing countries in the future.
