APEC Climate Center (APCC) held the APEC Climate Symposium 2019 (APCS 2019) from 20 to 22 August 2019 in Punta Arenas, Chile on the topic of ‘Pathway to Sustainable Growth under a Changing Climate: Enhancing Interaction between Climate Science and Society’. This symposium was co-hosted with the University of Magallanes, APEC Chile, and the Chile National Meteorological and Hydro-meteorological Service (DMC).
This symposium was held to promote the sharing of the latest research & development results and technical information on the production and utilization of climate information, and to encourage the exchange of opinions on various measures to utilize climate information in the fields of agriculture and water resources.
APCC has organized the APCS annually to facilitate knowledge exchange on the latest climate prediction techniques in the region and beyond. APCS also builds capacity for climate adaptation and provides a venue for the interaction of the world’s leading scientists, researchers. meteorological services, decision makers. and other stakeholders. Themes related to climate prediction and its applications are developed each year which guide the organized sessions and presentations.
